A member asked:

My smears show thick inflammatory exudates consisting of neutrophils with occasional macrophages and lympho, what does this mean?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Inflammation: First, where are these smears coming from...pap? Neutrophils are an indicator to the pathologist of acute inflammation and macrophages and lymphocytes are an indication of chronic inflammation. These findings are very non-specific, but likely indicate an infectious etiology present.
