Local wound care: Applying a compress to control bleeding, washing with soapy water and applying antibiotic ointment twice daily while keeping the site covered should be all you need to do until healed. If the wound is gaping or continues to bleed, it may require stitches. Vomiting, excessive sleepiness, or lethargy requires an ER visit. See your doctor if redness, swelling or drainage starts.
