I have severe skin only lichen planus, was given oral prednisone 20mg for 9 days. what are chances planus will return more severe after treatment?

If diagnosis is-: If you have lichen plants, a brief corse of Prednisone will usually not prevent recurrence! that said, i believe a skin biopsy is necessary. A visual diagnosis can be misleading! best!

See a dermatologist.: You do not specify where the lichen planus is. You need to make an effort to determine if you might find a cause such as drug allergy or hepatitis. You need to stop Prednisone or at least convert to alternate day dosing. Clobetasol, possibly as the gel, may help you. Benadryl (diphenhydramine) should be used only as a sleeping pill. It will not help you in any other way.
