Omega 3's: Some research does show that omega 3's may help stabilize mood in bipolar disorder. People using these in addition to their mood stabilizing medications had less mania and depression than those using the mood stabilizers alone. Our diets usually contain plenty of omega 6 and omega 9 fats, but are often deficient in omega 3's. If planning to supplement, i suggest focusing on omega 3's.
