Adults: The primary risk factors associated with larygeal cancer include tobacco use, alcohol consumption, human papillomavirus (hpv) infection (for oropharyngeal cancer). It would be incredibly rare for a child to get a malignant laryngeal tumor (rhabdomyosarcoma is the most common childhood tumor to affect the larynx) usually children get benign tumors.
