Some ideas: Swelling of eyes with pain could be anything from viral, bacterial, allergic, inflammatory processes. Systemic diseases as in hyperthyroidism, can cause similar symptoms. To really know what is going on, an examination is necessary. You have not elucidated other symptoms, as in discharge, visual changes, contact lens wear, double vision, or other systemic problems. Make an appointment with eye md.
