Likely due to smell: If the definitive answer is known, I am not aware of it. A likely explanation is women responding to each other's odors and perhaps pheromones. One does not have to be aware of the odors for the chemicals to affect a persons hormones.

Many reasons: A regular menstrual cycle doesn't preclude a woman or her partner from infertility. Many, many things can cause infertility without affecting menstrual cycle. To touch on just a few: female anatomical issues, endometriosis, anovulatory cycles, etc. Male partner may have low sperm count or low sperm motility. Fertility issues should be discussed first with ob. May need reproductive endo consult.

To become pregnant: Each month during your reproductive life the lining of your uterus (endometrium) thickens in anticipation of a pregnancy implanting into it. If that doesn't happen, hormonal changes make you shed that lining (your period) so it can be regenerated the next cycle.

At what phase in the menstrual cycle is a woman more likely to become emotionally attached to someone?

Too many variables: The psychological dynamics of interpersonal attachment is so complex that 4 million rather than 400 characters would not suffice. Emotional attachment may be influenced to some degree by hormonal changes, but over the long term this will play a minor role. If you are having problems of this nature suggest you see a clinical psychologist.

Age is a big : Determinant...Ultimately the communication betweeen the brain and ovaries is what drives the first half of a mesntrual cycle and it is this half of the cycle that is the most variable. After a women ovulates, if she is not pregnant, she will bleed within 14 days also as a rule!
