Take a preg test: Since birth control pills only protect a person from pregnancy if they are taken every day, if you stop the pills you aren't protected, so it's a good idea to have a pregnancy test. Brown spotting is usually caused by small amounts of menstrual blood that stays in the vagina until the blood cells break down, causing the brown color. A visit to your doctor might be a good idea.
