Depends: If the sclerotic lesion is within the bone, it may or may not be the cause of your pain. If it is within the knee joint, it may be an osteochondritic lesion or arthritis, that at times needs surgery. Mri's are good tests that can help elicit answers as to the significance of lesions in a joint. To clear this up, i would see an orthopaedic surgeon.
