Yes it can: Thyroid function compromise (usually hypothyroidism) where the gland is not working up to its metabolic potential or need can result in diplopia. Your doctor can order tests if they believe it is the problem. The condition is quite manageable and depending on the cause potentially curable in the long run. Yes : Thyroid disease and orbitopathy is one of the many causes of diplopia. As tissues within the orbit enlarge from the disease process they can cause the globe to shift which can lead to dipolopia. Treatment depends on the stage of disease and can include oral medications, surgery and glasses.
