Depends: Some treatments work, and some don't. Depends on many factors including the addict, the addiction substance(s), the health of the addict, the therapy and the therapist skill.

Yes: But alcoholic patients may need several episodes of treatment before they attain sobriety. Alcoholism is a complicated disorder that requires a comprehensive approach--therapies, medications, life changes, etc.
