Many think so: but they aren't. The problem is that they take a long time to work, compared to drugs like valium or klonopin, (clonazepam) which work quickly. In addition, Buspirone has lots of side effects, so it is started usually at a low dose and gradually increased. It may take 3 weeks or more to see effects, once you get to a usual dose (30-60 mg/day). They don't work for everybody, but studies do show effectiveness.
