Knee high hose: Wearing knee high compression hose is one of the healthiest things for your return circulation. These are available over the counter at pharmacies or on line. Keeping your legs elevated above heart level at times of rest and exercise are all good for the return circulation. The worst thing for your veins, is wearing ankle high socks. This is where veins are the weakest. Not ted hose!

Compression stocking: The best way to try to minimize your risk of progressive varicose vein disease is wearing prescription support stockings. Panty-hose style or thigh-high compression is more effective than knee high; precription-grade are more effective than OTC (although all will be beneficial). A significant risk for development varicose veins is hereditary, so matter what you do they could still develop.
