The physician will ask about symptoms of hypothyroidism (fatigue, weight gain, constipation, feeling cold, dry skin, etc.) do an exam of your neck to check the thyroid and some other tests such as tendon reflexes. Then a blood test will be done to check thyroid hormone levels. The results of all this information will be put together and a diagnosis then made.
