Ouch!: I sympathize deeply with your son - fire ants are diabolical critters, and their bites burn like fire, as their name suggests. It does not surprise me at all that he is still uncomfortable after a week; it may be another week or two before it's all over. Feet heal particularly slowly because he is walking on them. A washcloth soaked in cool water and applied 2-3 times a day will help somewhat.
