A member asked:

Is megasphaera part of the normal vaginal flora? my ob said i don't need treatment for it. is this true? i'm pregnant and don't have bacterial vaginosis

Should be okay: This is a bacteria, as best that i can tell from limited research, that is unique in humans to the vaginal environment and in higher numbers in women who actually have bv. If you do not have BV and are symptom free, then the presence of this bacteria on a routine culture would not prompt treatment.
