Personal choice: You have a high probability of having a child with downs. The decision to do a nuchal scan and other means of analysis implies that you would decide to have an abortion. Nuchal translucency: First trimester screening for Down syndrome tells you whether or not you are at high risk for a baby with down syndrome. It cannot identify your baby as having down syndrome. If you have a positive screening test, then you can find out if your baby is effected by having a cvs, amniocentesis or the new matern21 blood test for down syndrome.

Confirmatory tests: newly developed Fetal DNA determination in maternal blood, amniocentesis are two confirmatory tests.
