Normal: Breakthrough bleeding (brown or red) is common and is typically due to changes in hormones (estrogen and progesterone) and your cycle. If it persists or bothers you, make an appointment with your gynecologist to discuss options including birth control pills which can help to regulate a cycle. Other reasons could be thyroid issues, weight (thin/heavy) making lining of uterus unstable. Best of luck.
