No need: There is no need to taper off. One just can stop this medication. But, your physician should be part of the process so that the right treatment with another medication can be instituted.

Need more info: Weaning offthe medication is the right thing to do. Please consult with the doctor who prescribed metoprolol. He/she knows you best and is in the best position to tell you how to wean off and maybe prescribe another medication.
