Yes: Nexplanon secretes a steady level of progestins that prevent ovulation and therefore prevents pregnancy. There is no estrogen in Nexplanon therefore no regular cyclic bleeding. Any bleeding pattern is normal... All the time spotting, cyclic menses. Or occ menses like you have had now. It is good birth control though so hang in there!

Yes: It is very common to have irregular bleeding/spotting with Nexplanon during the first three months after implantation. Unfortunately, it is possible to have irregular bleeding/spotting throughout the life of the nexplanon. If it becomes bothersome, follow up with your gynecologist for possible treatment.
