A member asked:

Having breathing problem on minimal exertion can it be due to swollen vocal cords 2decho, pft xray, cbp, tsh=normal, ?

Dr. John Chiu answered

Possible vocal cord: If you have lpr, this can trigger vocal cord dysfunction- a condition wherein the vocal cord paradoxically closes up when you try to breathe in . Usually the shortness of breath occurs in 5 mins or less after exertion. You need to control the LPR then consider seeing an ENT and/or speech therapist if the problem fails to resolve. It may take weeks
