Best evidence...: ...Suggests that shingles is contagious starting when blisters appear and ending 24 hours after all the blisters have crusted over. This usually takes about 7 days from beginning to end - longer in severe cases. But remember that most kids these days have been vaccinated against chickenpox, so the question is often moot.
