Did he check for...: ...Blood? A simple stool test in the office can determine if your black stools represent melena (blood denatured by stomach acid) or just dark colored stools. In the meantime, particularly since bleeding can be intermittent, watch for signs of lightheadedness, weakness ; stop taking nsaid's, alcohol, tobacco. I anticipate further testing was advised, no?
