See below: Lexapro (escitalopram) 5 mg/day is a low dose. However, if you are sensitive to the side effects of meds, and your liver enzymes metabolize the drug slowly, you may need a lower dose. Some studies have linked ssri use to a loss in bone density. Also, ssris can interfere with the function of platelets in your blood and increase the risk of bleeding, esp. If you take Aspirin or other blood thinners.
