It could: Lots of mucous could go down the GI tract.Usually though it would be changed and not be mucousy when it left.Some infections can cause bowel involvement too which can lead to changed stool.Especially at a young age, if this all that is there and it goes away, likely not a big deal.However, if your bowels or bowel habits change or you see blood with mucous, have fevers, weight change get checked out.
