Check w/ pharmacist: Sometimes senna can affect the baby more than you, and cause diarrhea, as it will come through the breast milk. Remember that whatever you eat, drink or take, your baby is getting it too indirectly. So, check with your pharmacist to see if the dose of senna is high enough to do this, and your answer will be solved quickly. They have the software, database to quickly check this for you.

The american academy of pediatrics states that senna is one of the GI agents compatible with breastfeeding, along with cimetidine, atropine, cascara, cisapride, loperamide, and Magnesium Sulfate http://tinyurl.com/kqodhtr some sources show that maternal use of senna can result in loose stools in babies; some don't. http://tinyurl.com/llvbgss.
