Laminoplasty effects: Main issue is slow or incomplete recovery of previous spinal cord damage. This surgery prevents worsening, but doesn't guarantee recovery. Stiffness. Weakness or pain in the shoulder and biceps can be disabling in cases, but usually temporary. Spinal cord injury can occur after surgery in rare cases due to loss of blood supply to cord. Loss of opening created at surgery and recurrence of symptoms.
