In the USA, several dozen children a year died from this disease, often infants.As many as 400,000 ER visits were occurring. Fortunately we have a safe effective vaccine that protects infants and seen a decrease in the severity. If suffering from it you need to hydrate.

Rotavirus: Generally, in the United States, rotavirus does not cause anything worse than dehydration, which sometimes requires and Emercency Room visit for IV fluids or even a hospitalizations. Rotavirus is more of an issue in developing nations where dehydration can more easily become life-threatening
