Plugged glands: Styes form from plugged glands, and your best bet is to use warm compresses when washing face in the am to help these pores open up so the oils from the glands can protect the tear film on your eyes. The tear layer is made of mucus, oil and aqueous. So, this is most important! otherwise, you'll be fighting dry eyes too. Make sure that your eye doctor checks for ocular rosacea too. That adds to this.
