Plantar fasciitis: Most heel pain is the result of a condition called plantar fasciitis. A band of soft tissue, connects the heel bone with the forefoot. The area that typically hurts is where this band attaches to the heel bone. Most typically the pain is worse when going to stand up after a sitting or sleeping. Sometimes there is a spur associated with this condition.
