Hot tub maintenance: Hot tubs need careful maintenance and attention to chlorine levels and ph. Because the water is hot, chlorine levels need to be fairly high and checked frequently, otherwise bacteria in the water can grow. Showering prior to getting into a hot tub can also reduce contamination. If you are not responsible for the hot tub maintenance, there is no way to tell if it is being done properly.
