Brain Bleed: An epidural hematoma is a brain bleed occurring outside of the brain but within the skull. This accumulation of blood can cause an increase in pressure within the skull leading to brain herniation if untreated.

Collection of blood: An epidural hematoma is a collection of blood between the brain and skull caused by arterial bleeding. The accumulation of blood can cause an increase in pressure within the skull leading to headache, seizures, decreased conciousness, and brain herniation if untreated. It is diagnosed by ct without contrast.
