Is it practical to have my 91 year old mother to have a pacemaker put in? for 2.4 sec she doesn't have a heart beat in the early hours.

Perhaps: If the only cardiac abnormality is the 2.4 sec asystolic pause, without any other rhythm , maybe not. If she is a competent decision-maker, discuss with her , her preferences. Although pacers are done under local anesthetic, there can be risks of infection and arrthymia induced by lead placement.

Elderly Care: What does she want? Is she able to withstand and tolerate the medical procedure and all of the attention? Does she feel bothered by her symptoms. There is a point in life where physicians can offer a whole lot of procedures and tests and equipment, but the bigger picture needs to be addressed in safe ways about choosing to live well without all of the medical busy "ness'.
