A member asked:

How many people develop whiplash after being rear ended? not all i guess?

Most do NOT: Neck pain and stiffness from rear end mva collisions is not unique, and most pts either are not afflicted or recover within a few days. In those with persistent problems, might suggest consideration for trauma to vertebrae, rupture of disc, or thoracic outlet syndrome. A lot of these issues have been distorted by avaricious trial lawyers, and this activity affects statistics.

You are right: That not all will develop whiplash. You first have to have the head movement, the classic whiplash movement with the impact, and second need to damage the facet joints and often the capsule along with this movement. There are no exact percentages, but with a pure rear-end accident, there is a high risk of whiplash. The weaker the neck muscles, the more likely it is to happen.
