IBS: There is no best medicine. Medical treatment is to relieve symptoms, for example; for diarrhea: lomotil, imodium, questran, etc. For constipation: milk of magnesia, lactulose, miralax, (polyethylene glycol) senokot, etc. For cramps: bentyl. Also, avoid alcohol ; caffeine, ; limit intake of fatty foods.
