A member asked:

I have protective sex every time but before doing it, it goes in for 10 secs or so without one. can i still get pregnant? condom is never broken.safe?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not safe: Any act of penetration, even for a second, can cause a pregnancy. And i typically advise my patients that there are no 'safe' days in a cycle. If you aren't ready to become a parent, then it's best to use 2 methods of birth control. Condoms prevent pregnancy about 70% of the time, so over the course of a year, 30 couples using condoms will become pregnant. Not great odds if you're not ready.
