A member asked:

Can you tell me is alzheimer's disease genetic?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Two categories: Several families with genetic Alzheimer's issues are noted, most commonly mutations involving pre-senilin i and ii, amyloid precursor protein, and less frequent patterns. Vast majority of cases are sporadic associated with aging, and the peak onset occurs by age 85. In these situations, the genetic patterns are not clearly explanations.
