A member asked:

Can you tell me what you suggest if an elderly person has hallucinations because of a uti, does it mean they have dementia/alzheimer's?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Possibly: We do know that the elderly have more cognitive issues when infected or if they experience anti-cholinergic medication reactions. Often, the first sign of future dementia is such an event, but not always. Worthwhile getting a cognitive assessment just to clarify future risk issues.
