Permanaent: Once you contract genital herpes it is with you the rest of your life and will lead to intermittent outbreaks. The outbreaks will occur spontaneously especially if your immune system is compromised. When should not have sex during the outbreak especially unprotected because of the risk of transmission to the partner.
