A member asked:

What to do if i have elastics on my braces for my overbite and i don't know if i should move my jaw foward to help?

Reciprocal force: If you are seeing a qualified orthodontic specialist, and elastics have been prescribed, the orthodontist knows how they will affect both your teeth and your jaws. You don't have to position your lower jaw artificially. Just let the elastics do their job.

Not recommended: If your overbite is not skeletal, braces and an elastics that attaches to the braces should be sufficient to correct your mild to moderate overbite.
