Mucus from rectum: The most common thing to cause mucus from the rectum is hemorrhoids. We all have them. However, at age 74, you should see your physician for further evaluation as polyps or growths can also cause mucus. A digital rectal exam and anioscopy will be completed in the office and a colonoscopy recommended if you havent had one recently.
