Position: The best position to burp a baby is lying on his/her stomach across your lap with the body angled about 30º head up. This puts the air bubble on top due to the kidney shape of the stomach with the esophagus entering in the middle. That said, not all babies swallow air when they feed, so they don't all need to burp. This is especially true in breast fed babies.
