Local trauma: From your description, it sounds as if you sustained local trauma to your hand and wrist resulting in an irritation of the palm of your hand. If your traumatized the veins that can cause inflammation of them which is called phlebitis. The treatment for now would be ice and ibuprofen. This should improve over the next 3 to 4 days. If not, then see your physician.
