Is using of ice pack/bag recommended over hot water bottle for joint pain(oestoarthiritis) in the knee?

Its a personal cho--: Ice of the patient. I prefer hot h20 bottle for such a problem. If its an acutely painful and inflamed joint then I use an ice pack for first 4-6 days, then hot pack. Some patients prefer to alternate one with the other, for 20 minutes or so, at least 2-3 times a day.
