5-10,000 IU/day: I like my patients to be in the 60-70 ng/dl range. I do a lot of testing, and most of my patients are in the low ranges. It usually takes at least 5, 000 iu per day to stay in the optimal range--and usually considerably more to reach that range. Ask your physician to check your levels if you're not sure.
