See details: This is local irritation from the endotracheal or nasotracheal tube. It will resolve over a few days.

Couple of days?: If your general anesthetic involved laryngoscopy ( visualization of the vocal cords) and / or use of an airway ( endotracheal tube or other type, like laryngeal mask, for example), then soar throat can be result of that. It should be self-limiting and improve in 48 hrs. I would not expect any pus /infection though, that is not usual and i would advise to talk to your doctors.
