What exactly is blood pressure and how does it relate to the measured numbers?

Arterial flow.: Blood pressure measures the flow of blood in your arteries. Zero means no flow. The average BP is 120/80 indicating the peak and resting pressure in arteries. Normal pressure varies substantially but higher pressures increase risk of stroke and heart attack.
