A member asked:

If i can insert 1/2 inch of my finger inside my vagina, does that mean i have a normal hymen and not imperforate or microimperforate. i have periods?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Hymen: The presence of a hymen does not determine virginity as this thin membrane can be altered/broken by nonsexual activities. If you experience periods, you do not have an imperforate hymen (complete obstruction). The finger length insertion likely won't determine whether your hymen is intact or not. The hymen can come in a variety of shapes.
