You are most likely: Suffering from aerophagia secondary to your anxiety. This is where you swallow air and it gets trapped in the esophagus. The lower esophageal sphincter closes and the expanding air in the esophagus eventually forms enough pressure to cause pain near the xiphoid process and eventually causes a belch to erupt. In another variation goes into the stomach first and then erupts back into the esophagus and then eventually out through the throat.Best wishes. Please see a gastroenterologist for full evaluation.
