One causes the other: Mrsa can cause sepsis. Mrsa is a type of bacteria which may cause a condition called sepsis were the body is overly challenged with the infection.

Different problems: Sepsis is a deranged response of the body to severe infection. MRSA is a form of Staphlyococcus aureus that is resistant to certain antibiotics. MRSA can be harmless if it is just on your skin (colonizing), but if it becomes invasive it can cause sepsis. Working with other bacteria, MRSA can lead to rapid infections and death - or simply sit on your skin or in your nose and not cause a problem.
